1) What is the structure of the process for PGP students? Is there a GD?
Based on last year’s experience :
The process did not have a GD. It consisted of Essay writing with a time limit of 10 minutes and page limit of one side followed by a personal interview. There will be no elimination after Essay Writing for the Personal Interview stage.
2) What is the structure of the process for PGP ABM ?
Based on last year’s experience:
We had a case study discussion( group of 7-8 candidates), followed by the summary write-up of the discussion. So, the writing skills were also tested. All the candidates then appeared for the interview.
3) I’m a non engineer. Are the chances of me converting my call less?
Your chances are as equal as anyone else. For example, our batch has lawyers, doctors, economics graduates, arts graduates and many more.
4) My interview date is clashing with my semester exams? what can I do now?

5) Can I switch from PGP-ABM program to PGP program some time later during the year?
No, you cannot. But for your information, the classes for 1st year PGP and 1st year PGP- ABM participants are held together.
Fees & related
1) What is the total fee for the 2 year course?
For the 2011 -2013 batch, the total fee including hostel was approximately Rs. 14 lakhs (excluding mess charges). Fees will not be a constraint in any way, as the college provides various kinds of scholarship. Besides, banks readily provide loans for IIM Ahmedabad students. The institute prides itself of the fact that it is needs blind. Anyone irrespective of financial background will get an education at IIM A if you get in.
2) Is there any scholarship scheme available for student?
There are scholarship available for students of IIM Ahmedabad, based on merit as well as means. Each year the admissions and financial aids committee comes up with the criteria.
Academics
1) I have X no. of years of work experience. Can I be sure that questions regarding my graduation will not be asked in the interview?
There are students in the 2011-2013 batch with 5 years work experience who were questioned on their academics. We suggest you brush up at least the basics of your academic subjects.
2) I don’t have an allied background (B.Com, B.Sc., etc.), what are my chances for converting the PGP-ABM call?
The fact that you have been shortlisted for the interview clearly states the interest of the institute towards your candidature. Even in this sector specific program, the diversity of educational backgrounds is carefully maintained. But, you just need to show your interest in this sector. The “why PGP-ABM” question, would be crucial.
Work Experience
1) I have an allied background but I have been working in the IT sector for the past X years. What are my chances, and also, will it contribute negatively to my profile?
The fact that you have an allied background is good, but the question of switching fields could come up in the interview. As for negative contribution, that would depend on how satisfactorily you handle the question.
2) Kindly throw some light on the PGP-ABM programme’s course curriculum and placement opportunities.
For details about the course curriculum, kindly refer to the official IIM-A website (www.iimahd.ernet.in). The first year for PGP and PGP-ABM is common. As far as placements are concerned, there are separate companies that come for ABM candidates. For details about the companies that visited the campus recently, refer to the website.

Change of Address
1) My address has changed and I will not be able to receive any communication IIM A sends to the address I filled in the CAT form. What should I do?

Documents
1) My college does not provide a certificate for class toppers. Can I fill this achievement in the form?
A simple letter stating the achievement, with your HOD or higher authorities’ signature and seal on college letterhead will suffice. We suggest you do not write any achievement for which you do not have sufficient proof. In the worst case, you can mention to the interview panel about your achievement, clarifying at the same time that you did not mention the achievement in the form for lack of proof.
2) What are the documents I need to carry on the Interview day?
Kindly note that this list is NOT a exhaustive one and is being shared only to give you an idea. For the interview, you MUST carry the ORIGINALs and copies of the following documents :
Academics:

Work-Ex:
Proof of work experience (from HR department of the company stating the joining date and end date), two most recent salary slips.
Extra Curriculars / Co-curriculars/ Positions of responsibility :
- Certificates of appreciation – If you are yet to receive some certificates (topper of a department or similar), get a letter from the appropriate authority (HOD and similar) stating the same.
Community/PWD Certificate:
- If you have applied as NC- OBC or SC/ST/PWD category student, bring the original certificate and the proforma for the same can be found in http://www.catiim.in/

Important:
Apart from the above list, anything and everything mentioned in the Interview form and applicable to you.
Carry ATTESTED COPIES of all the above said documents. You may be asked to submit the photocopies during the interview.
3) What is the proof I need to carry for Work experience?
As proof of work experience, one needs to carry a copy of the joining letter of the company. It is advisable to carry a document mentioning the exact designation, if possible. Also, the photocopies of the two most recent payslips are needed as proof that you are still employed by the company.
