Hi Seniors,
I am already done with my interviews but during the document verification process I forgot to give them the xerox copy of my ID proof. My interviews were on 17th in Mumbai n now i am back in Pune. Will it be a problem n if yes wt should i do nw?
Hi Seniors,
Please clarify my doubts:
1. Should being on college chess team and winning inter college and intra college team competitions be put under extra curricular or under hobbies (chess being my hobby)?
2. Can Teaching non privileged students can be put under extra curriculars or hobby – I have certificates??
3. I was among school toppers(3rd rank) in both 10th and 12th and I mention it on most applications but i do not have any proof that I was indeed 3rd. Should I mention it ?
ThankYou in advance.
Hi Ravi,
1. Yes, it is extra curricular activity. i.e. beyond the academic curriculum.
2. Yes, it is social activity and can be taken under extracurricular activity head.
3. It is advisable to not mention anything for which you don’t own a written proof from an appropriate authority.
Since, you have already mentioned. Kindly get a written proof for it.
I am sure all schools maintain records and shall willingly agree to provide a proof for the same. In case, you are not able to get it in person. Kindly get an email printout or fax printout for the time-being.
Also, if you can’t get it in person and you have already mentioned it, kindly inform the interviewer upfront to avoid any confusion later on. It should not be an issue.
All the best for preparations.
Hi,
I have one doubt while filling up the interview form.
We are required to write an essay in about 150 words on “what according to you is the greatest challenge being faced by India and how would you like to address the challenge”
Does it mean:
1) What in my opinion will help in solving the problem I have mentioned. or
2) What am I doing or planning to do to help in solving the problem.
Hi Pradeep,
Since it is an interview form question, we shall not be able to help you with that.
You should take your call and answer the way which you seem to be appropriate.
If asked this, you can tell your assumptions in the interview or you can mention the same in beginning of your answer or as footnote.
How you understand and approach the question is one important aspect, I feel.
While the thought process shall be the most important aspect, writing skills shall also carry some weightage.
It doesn’t mean that you need to use heavy words and jargons. Use your normal english and please check it is coherent, consistent and error free.
It is advisable that you make a few rough copies before writing the final answer.
All the best for preparation.
Hii,
Could you please help in getting some info about the work ex profile of the batch of 2013. (no. of students with 0 work ex, 0-1 yrs, 1-2 yrs, 2-3 yrs and 3+)
Thanks,
Manav
Hi Manav,
The batch profile is variable throughout the batches. The median work experience of students in the current first year batch is around 22 months approximately. However, it is not an elimination criteria for final admission.
The weightage for work profile is captured in giving interview calls via application rating.
The final admission of candidate depends on the assessment of candidate-program fit. And the interview about what you have done so far will consider where you are in your current state and make an evaluation accordingly. (u will not be penalized for not having work ex or for having too much work ex (if there is something like that) as long as you are clear about your reasons for doing an MBA at this juncture.)
All the best for preparation.

I am studied in Delhi university and i want to complete my MBA From IIM Ahmedabad please suggest me and give guidelines related to CAT Exams my course is B.com and also what are the neccessary equipments related to preparation
Dear Manish,
This initiative is where we are just answering to the queries regarding the phase 2 preparation i.e. gdpi and wat and not about cat preparation.
But, still, since you have raised the query, i shall answer it briefly.
Firstly, there are no specific books for preparation.
You just need to understand the objective of the three areas where you are tested.
You need to learn concepts related to quantitative concepts and their applications. English is actually english usage. So, it is testing your understanding of language. While logic is similar to solving puzzles. Logon to http://www.catiim.in for detailed information about test pattern and sample test. For further information, you can browse over internet and MBA portals.
Best of luck for your preparation.
I currently have 7 months of work experience. I know questions can be asked from academics. But can somebody who had the same situation like mine(last year) come up with their experiences? Like since I have less work ex I am unable to figure out where I should concentrate more. On work-related or acads related!!!…I request anyone with 6-7 months of work ex prior to their interviews last year share their experiences regarding technical stuff.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have a call for PGP program at IIM-A for 2012-2014.
I have completed an Integrateded Master of Techology Program (5 years) and have been offered a single transcript which has marks of all 10 semesters. Also the degree offered in of Integrated M.Tech (5 Years).
Its not a dual degree program. My question is that :
1. In the interview form , how should I enter my graduation marks and degree?
(a) CGPA at the end of 6 semesters in Bachelors and CGPA at end of 10th semester in Masters ?
or
(b) CGPA at the end of 8 semesters in Bachelors and CGPA at end of 10th semester in Masters ?
2. What should I mark in the degree column as I have only one degree i.e for Integrated M.Tech (5 Years) after 10+2. There is no seperate degree for Bachelors as it was not a dual degree program.
Hello Rahul,
Your query has already been answered in “Admission Form Related queries” section. Please see it here. (http://askthestudents.org/2012/01/22/723/#comment-1110).
Hi Rahul,
In case your college has offered you any marksheet/any other document that mentions the semester wise CGPA/Marks, you can enter based on that. Otherwise, I would suggest that you get in touch with the Admission Office (email/ phone mentioned in the call letter) and get it clarified.
Regards
Anadi Mitra

Hi Mohit,
sorry for the delay in reply. All of us were busy in Chaos 2012.
Firstly companies and profiles offered by companies at IIM-A changes every year so it might be difficult to give exact idea about profiles. If you want to know what kind of profiles are offered by IT consulting firms in general, take the help of google.
Do we have to send anything to the admissions office after receiving the Call letter??
Hi,
Firstly, Apologies for the delay in replying to your queries.
Well, you are not supposed to send anything to the admissions office unless mentioned in the call letter. You can cross verify with the admissions office (contact details mentioned in letter). But, make sure you carry the originals of asked documents as mentioned in the call letter (X, XII, undergrads mark sheets etc.) with 2 sets attested copies for the interview and be on time on the interview date (just in case). It is good to have it in a docket.
Be relaxed, keep your nerve and brush up with current news, basics of your under-graduation and work experience sector (if any) for the interview.
All the best for your preparation.
